With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we share the passing of Patricia Jablonsky (née Griffiths).
Pat was born in Wainfleet Township on November 30, 1937, to Gladys and Harry Griffiths and raised in Riverside (now part of Windsor), Ontario. A bright and driven student, she attended Riverside High School and later the University of Windsor, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to education.
Her teaching career began in 1959 at Riverside High School and continued after her move to Mississauga, where she taught French with the Peel School Board until her retirement in 1993. Pat loved inspiring her students and made lasting connections with colleagues and learners alike.
On July 7, 1979, Pat married her best friend and life partner, Bill “Jabber” Jablonsky. Together, they shared 45 years of love, laughter, and adventure.
Pat had a vibrant spirit and many passions. She was an avid tennis player, skier, golfer, bridge player, and birdwatcher. She also treasured her time with friends—always ready with a warm smile, a good story, and a twinkle in her eye.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents and her sister, Joan Ortiz. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Bill, her nephew Armando Ortiz (Susan), nieces Patty Ortiz, Marta Kelly, Franci Kever (Ken), and Joanna Ortiz (Russell Bartt), along with ten great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-nephew and one great-great-niece. Pat also cherished her extended family—fondly known as the Cousin Connection—and an incredible circle of friends who were like family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pat’s memory to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Princess Margaret Hospital, or a charity close to your heart.
Please feel free to share your memories, messages, or photos of Pat below. Her warmth, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor will be remembered always.
