TSIMICALIS, Panagos (Peter), revered patriarch and loyal friend, passed away peacefully in his 97th year on May 14, 2026.
Panago is survived by his children, Demetra (Carlos), Stanley (Roula), Sophia (Tom) and Eleonora (Louis), his eight grandchildren, Peter (Erin), Kristen, Michael (Julia), Peter, George (Karina), Christina (Mayu), Peter and Alaina and his cherished great grandsons Teddy and Charlie who brought him endless pride and joy. He was predeceased by his wife Christina and siblings Stavros, Tom, Sophia, Amalia and Petros. It is the end of an era and Panago was the last man standing and will be lovingly remembered by many.
Panago grew up in beautiful downtown Skoura, Greece, a place he carried in his heart throughout his life. He left for Brazil (as a teen) in search of a better life and a little adventure with his Uncle Pano. From there he travelled throughout North and South America for the better part of a decade until he decided to call Toronto his forever home. He worked hard, endured every hardship with resilience and dignity, and it was only then that he felt ready to marry and back he went to Greece where he met his soul mate, Christina and at last his soul recognized the piece it had always been missing.
Panago was stoic, had extraordinary character, filotimo and heart. He was always working. He was always thinking. His passions included business, gardening and cooking. While Panago connected best with those who worked with their hands, he revered education above all else. Panago was a founding member of the Skoura-Varvitsa Brotherhood of Canada and was elected as their inaugural President. In recent years, Panago lived simply and found satisfaction in daily rituals and the places he knew best. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his business savvy and work ethic, his wit and story-telling and for lending many a helping hand.
Panago lived his one precious life to its fullest and on his own terms. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, perseverance and generosity that will live on through generations.
The world has grown quieter, and Panago will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, beloved patriarch and may your memory be eternal.
