Myles Avrum Gordon
Born: December 9, 1942 living fully until April 26, 2026
Myles celebrated life with his beloved wife Carolyn (Weisman) of over 52 years and their cats. As well enjoyed spending time with his immediate and in-law families at all relationship levels, and many friends.
Myles loved being active and fit. Being very much into physical fitness with regular gym workouts, running and a dedicated trophy winning squash player; in addition hiking and mountain climbing. A passionate reader, learner and knowledge seeker, visiting the local library and purchasing enough books to create his personal repository, filled with volumes exploring his eclectic interests, even tried his hand at tap dancing for a few years! A music lover of symphonies, opera and country genres.
An intellectual and wonderful conversationist.
He received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Myles worked for the Canadian government until deciding to open Centre Court Racquet Shop, a hugely successful and respected establishment in the GTA.
At 40 years of age, Myles became a passionate gardener. Taking courses, reading and studying, as well as seeking out others more knowledgeable asking questions to create the beautiful home gardens that were recognized for several years on the local Richmond Hill garden clubs’ annual tour route.
Myles became more open and confident in using equipment and technology to enjoy the backyard pool and plan the incredible trips that he and Carolyn enjoyed. Travelling the world to many more remote, non-typical tourist locations, initially as self guided, transitioning to independent professional guides. The many photographs throughout their lovely home showcase these locals.
Through determination and resilience, Myles summited Mt. Aconcagua (22,834 ft) at age 47 and 25 years later ascended nearly to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, both with professional guides.
He will be so very missed by his loving wife Carolyn, his family and his many many friends, and the numerous communities of people he touched throughout his life.
