It is with our deepest sadness to announce the death of Mun Fong Woon, on Feb. 7, 2022. Mun Fong was a gentle and compassionate soul who showed kindness and focus upon all that he met. Born in Malaysia on Nov 21, 1959 he was the youngest of five sons and two sisters. He will be deeply missed by his children, Maxime, Justin, Emile, Jonathan and Colin.
Mun Fong was born in Sungai Siput, attended elementary school in Sungai Siput and Ipoh and High School in Kuala Lumpur at the Victorian Institution, creating many friendships that he maintained until this day. Obtaining his degree in computer science at UCLA Davis and his Masters of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he remained in North America settling first in Ontario then Quebec and the past 10 years in Toronto Ontario.
In the mid 1980's he met Mr. Moy Lin Shin and was able to devote many years as a volunteer, interpreter, instructor, director and elder to numerous members of the FLK society. By dedicating his life to compassion and the 8 virtues he was able to help so many. His sense of humour, inquisitiveness, focus of attention and stillness led him down many paths in helping others.
He survived 23 years of chronic illness caused by Myasthenia Gravis, Thymoma, with stoicism and determination that surpassed many. In later years he transferred his energy into being a volunteer teacher within the health community. As a peer facilitator for the Chronic Disease Self Management Program and a Patient Partner of the UHN, Toronto.
He will be sorely missed by his siblings, his many nieces and nephews, five sons, Ghislaine, maternal grandmother of his sons and Andrea his spouse of the past 16 years. Of all those he met and touched in his life, friends, colleagues, members and fellow patients he will be deeply missed and remembered by what a focused, compassionate and gentle soul that he was.
