It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, a man whose kindness, intelligence, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of all who knew him. Born on January 14, 1942, in Kostolac, Serbia, he lived a life rich with love, laughter, and accomplishment.
He was preceded in death by his seven sisters and one brother, whom he cherished deeply, and his parents, Anka and Petar, who raised him with the values of hard work, resilience, and generosity. His early years were marked by service to his country in the Yugoslavian army, a testament to his strength and discipline. He was also a gifted athlete, playing professional soccer, swimming with joy, and relishing the strategic challenges of chess.
On September 22, 1976, he married Jelena, his devoted partner in life, with whom he built a beautiful family. He was a proud and loving father to Susan, Emily (Oleg), and Sasha, and a doting grandfather to Isabella, Sanja, and Aleksandar, who were the light of his life. Nothing brought him greater joy than sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom with them.
A master electrician by trade, he poured his expertise into his work, contributing to companies such as Colgate Palmolive and Peek Freans and founding his own business, Yugo Electric. His dedication to his craft was unparalleled, and his willingness to help others knew no bounds. No matter the time of day or night, he would always answer the call of a friend in need.
Beyond his work, he was a man of intellect and curiosity, well-read and deeply interested in the world. He found pleasure in watching tennis, soccer, and the debates of the House of Commons, always engaged with the events unfolding around him. He was a gifted storyteller, entertaining loved ones with his Mujo and Haso jokes and reciting poems he had learned as a young student, his memory as sharp as ever.
In his final days, he found comfort in the melodies of his favorite musician, Tozovac, a reflection of his deep appreciation for music and tradition. His legacy is one of love, generosity, and wisdom, and though he has departed this world, his spirit will live on in the cherished memories of those who loved him.
He was more than a father, a grandfather, a husband, and a friend—he was a guiding light, a pillar of strength, and a source of endless love. His presence will be dearly missed, but the impact he made on the lives of his family and friends will never fade.
Rest in peace, dear Dad. You will forever remain in our hearts.
