In memory of

Mike Kowalishin

May 14, 1952 - May 5, 2026

Michael was the beloved son of the late Dr Paul Kowalishin and his wife, the late Alice Kowalishin. He is survived by, and is the cherished twin brother of Teresa (Chris Holoboff), Maureen (Don Storey), and Nadine (Brant Latham) He is survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who will all miss him.

He lived most of his life at home with his parents. For many years he was cared for by his mother, as she aged Kelly and Cheryl entered his life. When his mother passed he gained a great sense of independence. His transition from family life to independent life was seamless. He inspired joy and possibility of independence to many who require assistance.

Mike was tenderly and lovingly assisted for many years by Kelly, Cheryl and Sonya. He is also fondly remembered by his housemate Tim.

His family and friends know him as a funny, loyal and engaging man. He had a great sense of humor and once you became his friend you were a friend forever. There was not a mean bone in his body and he was never judgmental. He was always glad to see you and was full of trust, love and joy. We who knew him were all better for his friendship.

Mike loved old movies, game shows, collecting everything and anything and keeping his collections in perfect condition. In a room full of mementos of his life, he knew where everything was and if it was not in its right place. He was meticulous! He loved to be busy in the kitchen and would often ask if he could help…and then walk away! He enjoyed going out for drives, having a coffee by the lake and checking out the stores. He was fond of his many housecats and strays and all of the dogs that came into his life. He enjoyed his dog walks with Kelly. He was a big Blue Jays fan and enjoyed many live games and every televised game. He was a big fan of the Shopping Channel. He enjoyed many special events with Cheryl and Kelly and Tim.

The family is grateful to the many people and associations for their assistance in Mike's life.

There will be a private funeral for Mike.
