Masoud was born in Tehran on December 2nd, 1935, and completed his life long journey on July 16th, 2026.
He had four siblings, and was a middle child of his family.
Shortly after his high school graduation he got a rare admission to University of Tehran to study architecture at the faculty of engineering, where he later completed his undergraduate and post graduate studies.
He was the only child in his family to obtain a graduate degree and was pride and joy of his father.
Masoud went on to work for Engineering and Technical Services at the City of Isfahan, the second largest metropolitan centre in Iran.
He subsequently got promoted to become a Regional Director with expanded responsibilities to oversee Capital Civil and Social Infrastructure Redevelopment projects.
His leadership and business acumen concurrent with people skills, provided him with an opportunity to get nominated as a deputy Governor for the largest trading port in Iran, Bandar Abbas, where he subsequently was offered and accepted the position.
In 1975, few years prior to the revolution, he was promoted to a Governor, where he held office until 1977 Iranian revolution.
In 1979 he formally retired, and went on building custom homes, one of which we lived in most of our lives and throughout my childhood as well as early teen years in Tehran.
In 1986 and throughout the Iran/Iraq war, he sent me off to escape Iran for Canada as a final destination, a risk that he later followed three years after my arrival in Toronto.
By doing so, not only he has sacrificed his livelihood but also risked resetting his entire life that he once knew.
Both my brother and I were profoundly fortunate to have him around not only as a role model but to share his collective years of life experiences and wisdom to foster our future and current lives.
He was an exemplar husband, father, father in law and a grandfather. But most of all, he was my best friend which I have cherished as I got older and more mature in life.
We have never won an argument with our mother in his presence, as he unequivocally defended her position, a quality that he kept until the last moment of his life.
In his honour, you are invited to join us to celebrate his life on Friday July 24th from 6 pm to 8 pm at Elgin Mills Cemetery, funeral centre.
Further to my father’s direction, his body was cremated with his remains to get scattered around his favourite cottage in Trent Lakes.
As per my father’s wish, we will be having a reception and not a funeral, laughter and not griff, alcohol and not tea, and music in lieu of liturgical religious songs.
