In memory of

Maura Theresa Caleta

April 20, 1937 - May 18, 2025

Maura Theresa Caleta (nee Darcy)

Passed away in her 88th year after a brief illness. Loving mother of Thomas, the apple of her eye and wife of Tom
Predeceased by parents Michael and Mary, brothers Paddy, John and Michael. Loving sister to Jerry and Daisy and Aunt to Gerald, Michelle, Stephanie, Geraldine, Brian, Frank, John, Michael, Allison, Nicola, David and Mary Louise. Many other relatives throughout Canada, Ireland and England. Great friends with Doreen Wilson, a fellow nurse from Central Hospital.

Maura was a brave and adventurous trailblazer in her young life which saw her trained as a nurse in Ireland, then onto practice in Bahrain, New York City and eventually immigrating to Canada in 1965. She rose from nurse to head nurse and eventually hospital administrator at Central Hospital in Toronto.

Maura was a voracious reader, loved to take road trips with her son, walking and hiking and cross country skiing in her younger days.

She was an extremely kind, loving, loyal warm person with a great sense of humour who was always known to be smiling.

She will be sorely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to cross her path.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunnybrook Hospital or the War Amps would be appreciated.
