Today we honor and remember a truly remarkable woman, the heart of our family.
She was born in Trapezonti, Laconia, Greece, and emigrated from there to Canada in 1965, carrying with her a deep faith, a strong spirit, and a love that would shape generations.
She was a devoted wife who shared with our father a rare and beautiful love, a love we came to see as sacred and deep, formed over a lifetime of standing side by side through everything.
Now they are reunited in God’s presence.
She was predeceased by her mother, Panagiota; her father, Konstantinos; and her beloved husband, Constantinos.
She is survived by her brothers, Antonis, Elias, and Demetre; her children, Reena (Vaggeli), Patty (Angelo), and Stavros (Joanne); and her cherished grandchildren, Alexia, Johnny, Dino, Diego, Niko, and Constantinos.
She was a loving mother and a constant, tender yiayia.
She helped raise her grandchildren and shaped their hearts with warmth and wisdom.
She held our home together with quiet strength, gentle discipline, tireless care, and a love that never ran out, even when life asked more of her than it should have.
She was our greatest encourager.
In every challenge, every doubt, and every small victory, her voice lifted us higher, believing in us more than we believed in ourselves, carrying us forward with steady faith and gentle words that stayed with us.
She loved to dance, and her joy filled every room.
Above all, she was a woman of God.
Her faith was not something she spoke about. It was how she lived, choosing grace over bitterness, peace over conflict, and service over self, day after day.
She carried the weight of life with grace, and in doing so, she carried all of us.
No hardship ever truly broke her, though losing Dad pierced her heart more deeply than anything else.
Even as dementia slowly dimmed her light, her courage and gentle spirit still shone through.
Our grief is heavy, but our admiration for her strength and courage is heavier still.
She was a very special woman, a pure soul, extraordinary in every quiet and humble way.
The ache of missing her is deep.
We grieve for the pain she carried so bravely, and we take comfort in knowing she is now at perfect peace in God’s presence.
And if there were moments when her road felt lonely,
we trust that God walked beside her when we could not,
holding her close, reminding her in the silence how deeply she was loved by Him and by all of us.
Her legacy lives on
in her children,
in her grandchildren,
in every act of love we learned by watching her,
and in the unbreakable spirit she showed us every day.
Through the long final journey of my mother’s illness, she continued to teach us, even when words failed her.
We learned to love more patiently, to remain steady when the weight felt overwhelming, and to place our unanswered questions in God’s hands.
In her courage through the fog, she gave us her final gift: a deeper capacity to love, to endure, and to trust that love outlasts every loss.
We miss her more than words can say.
May her memory be eternal.
Αἰωνία της η μνήμη.
Rest now in God’s eternal peace, Mama,
wrapped in the arms you always trusted.
We love you forever.
