It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Do Carmo Soares, who left us on September 3, 2026, at the age of 84.

A true fighter, Maria bravely battled cancer three times, demonstrating immense courage and resilience. Sadly, this last round took her from us too swiftly.

Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Manuel Moniz Soares, as well as her cherished daughter Lumanda. She was also preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Almerinda Oliveira, her brothers João and Manuel Oliveira, and her sister Aldora Lima.

She is survived by her children, Nelia Maria DaSilva (Floriano) and Emanuel Soares (Lydia), who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Maria was a proud grandmother to Sonia (Luis), Patricia (Rafi), Paul (Stephanie), and Hayden, and great-grandmother to Dominic, Marcus, Matteo, Juliana, Arianna, and Xavier.

Maria is also survived by her loving sisters, Adelina, Zelia, and Valdemira, as well as her sisters-in-law Jorgina and Fatima and her brother-in-law Jose.

Mom will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her love and compassion will remain in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a cancer research organization of your choice in her memory.
