Margaret Challis passed away on Wednesday May 21, 2025 after an incredible life of almost 98 years. Margaret was a champion of equity and human rights and demonstrated an endless commitment to accountability, respect, integrity, professionalism and teamwork.
Margaret was a pioneer and leader in her lengthy career at the TTC, serving as their first female insurance adjuster. Margaret went on to become the first female President of the Ontario Insurance Adjuster’s Association from 1979-1980.
Lifelong member of Kingston Road United Church and choir. An accomplished and award-winning vocalist and pianist. Avid supporter of the arts in its many forms.
Lovingly remembered by her sisters in Chapter P/ON of the P.E.O. International Sisterhood. Past Provincial President 1994-1995 and dedicated member for over forty years, supporting access to higher education for women.
Margaret will be remembered by her many friends and family for her love, kindness, compassion and generosity.
A memorial service will be held at Kingston Road United Church, 975 Kingston Road, Toronto on Wednesday, June 11th at 1:00 pm followed by a reception and private internment.
