Tom (Ling Shun) Tam
(March 3, 1948 – January 19, 2026)
Tom, also known to many as Jock Yeung or AH Yeung (in Hoipingnese), Terry and Yeah Yeah, passed away at the age of 77 following a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Tom is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Susanne. He was the proud father of Edmund (Bonnie) and Amie (Ivan Lee), and devoted grandfather to his three grandsons, Ethan, Nate, and Tobey. He is also survived by his sister, Wai King and brother, Jock Shiu.
At the heart of Tom’s life was his over fifty-year marriage to Susanne. He was her protector and dedicated partner, always ensuring she was cared for with the same precision he applied to everything else. Whether in life or on the dance floor, Tom was her perfect partner, moving through their decades together with grace and unwavering loyalty.
Defined by steady dedication, friendliness and reliability, Tom built a distinguished career as an accountant. He served with the Royal Ontario Museum for more than two decades, until he was proudly promoted to Grandfather.
Tom was famously meticulous about cleanliness—whether it was his legendary use of paper towels or the pristine condition of his vehicles. This legacy of discipline lives on in his children, who maintain impeccably clean cars and, much like their father, do not allow eating in the car.
In retirement, Tom lived fully. He and Susanne traveled the world together as "elite status" travelers, crossing the globe on numerous cruises. At home, Tom was the cornerstone of his family. He was famously patient, spending hours playing with the boys or fast asleep on the couch with them by his side.
Tom was the family’s ultimate food chauffeur. He took great pride in driving around to track down everyone’s favourite eats, and he always picked up the sweetest and juiciest oranges, and the biggest green grapes and cherries he could find. He held a decades-long family tradition involving his stash of Dad’s Oatmeal Cookies. Originally kept in the bottom drawer of his office desk for Edmund and Amie, the stash became a shared bond with his grandsons. He was always ensuring the family’s full bellies.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
