Together Again
Our beautiful Letty began life on October 31, 1930 in Toronto, ON. A little sister to Cameron, a big sister to Elizabeth and a friend to all stray cats who crossed her path.
Growing up for Letty had a lot of twists and turns, but she was always a straight shooter with a subtle appreciation of the humour in most situations. Case in point - while dabbling in archery as a young woman her aim may have been questionable but her luck was not when she shot an arrow straight through her big brother’s car - in one window and straight out the other. Luckily the windows were open and her brother was absent and far enough away from the chuckling that followed.
In 1949 our Aunt Sheila introduced her friend Letty to her brother, William. They married in 1955 and had their first daughter Karen a couple of years later followed by Jacqueline, then William Jr. Letty and Bill were the dynamic duo of parenting. They engineered family camping trips, tree climbing adventures, trips to the red clay hills, road trips across Canada - east and west, riding on the tailgate and dipsy doodles. Later, together, they travelled from one end of the world to the other. They lived in Mexico for a few months and learned not only the Spanish language, but how to incorporate Jello into every meal. They were rarely apart and in later years could be seen every morning strolling to the mall hand in hand with sandwiches, crossword puzzles and walkie talkies safely packed in a green backpack. After they had eaten their sandwiches, completed the crossword and finished their coffee (in personally monogrammed mugs safely stored in the A&W at the mall food court) they would each take a walkie talkie and head off in different directions scouring for bargains. “Bill, bath mats on clearance in the Bay! Over.”
Letty showed warrior spirit throughout her many years battle with Alzheimer’s. Letty and Bill were married for 69 years and he never left her side until Alzheimer’s forced his hand and Letty moved to Wyndham Manor where she was treated like family. Bill visited his “lovely Letitia” daily with that same green backpack now filled with Letty’s favourite things until he was no longer able (Bill recently passed in 2024.) Then, on April 22nd, 2026 an angel scooped dear Letty up lovingly and peacefully and delivered her back to Bill. Together again. Rest in Peace Letty, Mum, Auntie Let, Nana, Great Nana. You are loved.
