Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and matriarch on Tuesday, May 13 at the age of 99. Cherished wife of the late Patrick for 70 years; dearly loved mother of Myrna (Willan), Helen, Hyacinth (Lloyd), Jacqueline (Jarmo), Wayne (Christine), Keith (Suzanne) and Dexter (Gela); cherished sister of Pearl and Lorna pre-deceased by sisters, Elfreda, Elvin and Joyce and brothers Joseph, Leo and Glenroy.

Mama Lena (“Mama”) was adored by her 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, Trinidad and the United States. Lena was fiercely devoted to her faith and her family and embraced those within her orbit with unconditional love, warmth, boundless generosity, compassion and selflessness.

She was the family’s champion cheerleader, encourager, advisor and counselor who always saw the best in others and whose insurmountable faith helped to instill in others the confidence that they could seize opportunities and overcome life’s obstacles and challenges. Lena was a deeply admired teacher who made it her mission to ensure that the young children under her tutelage received the best possible foundation. Lena was widely known for her exceptional culinary skills and those fortunate to taste her many marvelous meals never forget them. Mama Lena was a remarkable woman whose legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at the Meadowvale Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 7732 Mavis Road (Mavis & 407) on Friday May 23rd from 4pm-8pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church on Saturday, May 24th at 10:00 am followed by internment at Meadowvale Cemetery
