It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leila on Thursday April 30, 2026, at Markham Stouffville hospital at the age of 76.

Leila will be forever loved and remembered by her mother Thelma Shepherd, and her dear siblings James Batson (Effie) and Rita Greenidge (Dolston). She was a devoted and loving mother to Dwayne (Rhonda), Trevor (Avril) and Yolande (Raymond), who were her constant source of pride and joy in her life. Leila was a proud and cherished grandmother to Trey, Austin, Alika, Aden, Olivia and Abigale.

She will be deeply missed by her extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is gone, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A funeral to celebrate Leila’s life will be held on Friday May 8, 2026, at THORNTON CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787) with visitation from 12:00pm to time of service at 1:00pm. Burial to follow.
