Born in Barmpton on April 4, 1935, Larry passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026 at Brampton Civic Hospital, at the age of 91.

Beloved husband of Marjorie (nee Bumstead). Loving father of Steven, Jo-Ann and extended family of Ron Ferrer and Dr. Karen Flynn. Predeceased by his parents, Harold "Mooney" Gibson and Violet Jennings.

Larry grew up as part of Brampton's important horticultural heritage. His maternal grandfather, Richard Jennings, was instrumental in establishing Brampton as the "flower town of Canada". The Jennings' greenhouses on Church Street East produced such outstanding quality blooms of chrysanthemums, carnations, violets, and roses that his grandfather won the prestigious Timothy Eaton Chrysanthemum Trophy Cup 3 years in a row, being awarded it permanently in 1905. Larry spent more than a few afternoons playing hooky from school, hiding out in the greenhouses, reading comic books.

Sports and athleticism were an integral part of his long life, again with a foundational base from his grandfather, who established Rosalea Gardens athletic park in 1894. Larry was active in lacrosse, hockey, and curling just to name a few. He was both a team member and a coach throughout the decades, as well as a dedicated fan of the Blue Jays.

Larry worked as a Chemical Technician at Orenda Engines for 12 years and Ontario Hydro for almost 30 years. He and Marjorie enjoyed many travels and adventures by car, coach, and plane. Larry valued his friendships deeply and strove to be honest and fair to all. He loved his butter tarts, military history, and spending lazy summer days up at the cottage in Sauble Beach. Larry's laughter and fun spirit will truly be missed.
