It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Larisa Sinayuk (née Knyazhanskaya) at the age of 65, after an eight-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her family and relatives will always remember her for her exceptional warmth, wisdom, kindness, and resilience.
Larisa was a caring mother and grandmother, and her family loved her very much. She is missed deeply by her husband, Illarion; her daughter, Sandra; son-in-law, Michael; and her grandson, Dmitri.
Larisa began her professional life as a civil engineer, earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Realizing later that her true vocation was to treat and support people, she retrained as a nurse. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to helping others, working in surgical gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and with vulnerable community members.
She was deeply fond of classical music, nature, and animals. She also found joy in sewing, knitting, baking, and drawing for those she loved.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral or visitation. Instead, a memorial tree will be planted in her name. Those who wish to pay their respects are encouraged to spend some quiet time in nature remembering her warmth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larisa’s memory to one of the following organizations:
1. The Toronto Cat Rescue
2. Toronto and Region Conservation Foundation
3. Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation
