It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Konstantinos Papadopoulos, devoted husband to Maria, and loving father to Karen (Peter) and Pamela (George).

Kosta was born in 1952 to Traianos and Garifalia. He adored his parents. They lived in a house perched on a hill in the small village of Parori, Florina. The journey of Kosta’s life brought him from the mountains of Greece, across an ocean, to a new country filled with new opportunities. He arrived in Canada in 1970 as an 18 year old boy, joining his brother, Niko, in Toronto’s growing Greek community.

It was here that Kosta quickly met the love of his life, Maria. They married in 1976 and would go on to spend 49 wonderful years together. Kosta’s dedication to his daughters, Karen and Pamela, was boundless. He pushed them hard because he understood the precious value of education.

Kosta also dearly loved his extended family and many friends. Together with Maria, they travelled with them often and hosted countless gatherings, celebrations, and feasts. He was an exceptionally patient and meticulous man who tended to his flower gardens for hours at a time, made his own cheese and bread, and grew vegetables. He proudly shared it all, with everyone he loved. And in his downtime, this former soccer player and lifelong fan passionately cheered for Barcelona FC, right until the end.

The purest joys of Kosta’s life, however, were his grandchildren: William, John-Evan, Maia, Konstantine, and Mariellen. “Papouli” loved them with all his heart. They brought out a softer side of him; all smiles and laughter. And he never beamed brighter than in 2024 when he took them all back to where his life began, back to that house perched on the hill.

Kosta passed away on May 24, 2025, surrounded by family. We will always be grateful for the years we had with him, for the love and support he gave to us, and for the example he set. He will continue to live within each of us, undiminished by time.
