Kim Chai passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at the age of 84, in Mississauga, Ontario.
Kim was the beloved wife of Chong (John) Chai, with whom she shared over 58 years of marriage, having been married on January 20, 1968. She was a devoted mother to Karine (Micheal), Jesse (Alice), and Jay (Helen), and a proud grandmother to Evan, Jonathan, Joshua, and Ella.
Kim expressed her love most through cooking, and nothing brought her greater joy than preparing meals for the people she loved. She treasured spending time with family and especially loved caring for her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy, lighting up whenever family came to visit. Every holiday and birthday was a special occasion, and she delighted in bringing everyone together to celebrate.
She had a passion for dancing, enjoyed the challenge of Mahjong, and loved trying her luck on trips to the casinos in Niagara Falls and Las Vegas. An avid traveler, Kim enjoyed countless cruises and adventures around the world, creating lasting memories with family and friends. China was one of her favourite destinations, and she always held a special place in her heart for Malaysia, the country where she was born.
Kim was known for her generosity, warmth, and kindness. She cherished the lifelong friendships she built and could often be found happily chatting on the phone with her sisters and dear friends. Her love for family, welcoming spirit, and caring heart touched everyone who knew her.
Kim will be deeply missed by her family, relatives, and friends. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, laughter, and the memories she created around the dinner table, on family vacations, and during life's many celebrations will be cherished forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/trillium-health-partners-foundation/ in memory of Kim Chai would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and the palliative care staff for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Kim and her family during her illness.
