With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life beautifully and bravely lived, we announce the passing of Kich Vuong, who left us surrounded by the love of his family.
Kich was a truly joyous man, a legendary storyteller, and a pillar of strength for everyone who knew him. Above all, he was a man of immense selflessness and generosity. To Kich, no one was a stranger; he welcomed everyone into his life with open arms and an open heart, always ready to share a laugh, and a sweet treat.
His life was defined by an extraordinary act of heroism. As a young man, Kich made the brave decision to escape Vietnam to build a better future for his family. With his wife and toddler beside him, he steered a boat full of people through treacherous waters. The passengers entrusted their lives to his courage and skill, and he safely guided them to freedom—a testament to the brave, honest, and protective man he would always be.
Upon arriving in his new home, Kich poured himself into providing for his loved ones. He possessed an incredible work ethic, fighting spirit, and an unyielding moral compass. He believed deeply in the value of hard work, a principle he practiced every single day without complaint.
He brought that same brilliant work ethic and sharp mind to his love for fixing things. Kich was a gifted mechanic who could understand, repair, or improve almost anything he touched. His natural talent made him a lifelong tinkerer—he absolutely loved gadgets, was fascinated by how things worked, and was always eager to try the latest technology. Whether he was using his hands to solve a complex mechanical problem or helping someone fix a broken item, his ingenuity was matched only by his willingness to help anyone in need.
When he wasn’t busy fixing things or working hard for his family, Kich embraced the pure joy of life. He had a deep appreciation for cartoons, animation and slap stick humour, and nothing compared to the sound of his brilliant, hysterical laughter while watching Tom and Jerry. He also loved the excitement of a good blockbuster movie.
Kich had a profound love for travel, an adventurous spirit, and was always open to trying new things. He found immense joy in exploring the world, but perhaps found just as much joy in the simple pleasures of life—especially good food and his favourite sweets.
Kich’s greatest legacy, however, is the family he loved so fiercely. He was a profoundly devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Thi Bay; his devoted daughters, Phoi-Linh Vuong and Phoi-yee Vuong; and his two cherished grandchildren, Audrey and Eleanor Chin, who brought immense light and joy to his final years. He also leaves behind countless friends and extended family members who were blessed by his warmth and generosity.
Kich Vuong was a hero, a provider, a master of his craft, and the joyful heart of his family. His laughter, his stories, and his selfless spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
