In memory of
Karl Henry Betterley
February 27, 1943 - September 24, 2026
In his 84th year, Karl passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at Lakeridge hospital, Oshawa with his family at his side.
He is survived by his wife Sheila of 62 wonderful years, daughter Karlene (Andre, deceased),
son Kurt (Jenn), grand children Jordan (Catherine), Karissa (Tommy), Travis (Jayden),
Selena, Cameron, Emily, great grandson Jacob and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by brothers Ron (Jo-Ann), Bob (Jackie) and sister Gail (Terry, deceased).
Predeceased by brother James "Sonny" (Susie, deceased) and his parents John and Gladys Betterley.
He was their second son and grew up in the small town of Belmont, Ontario.
Upon graduating from high school, his first job was working in data processing/computers
which he did for the next 35 years in London (London Life), Windsor (GM Trim) and Oshawa (GM/EDS).
He was proud of his contribution to the Flex project with GM/EDS which assisted in the
elimination of the "drag chain" methodology in building vehicles and the implementation in all
of the GM assembly plants in Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
Karl also was an avid tenpin bowler participating in competitive and family leagues. He performed all the different roles required to run a bowling league over the years.
He loved the old rock & roll music and listened to his collection of records constantly.
Per his wishes there will no funeral service.
