David (Hsin-Chi) Kang passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, following a brief battle with liver cancer.


Born in Taiwan, David graduated from Tamkang University in Taipei and completed his mandatory military service before embarking on a new life chapter.


David married the love of his life, Mei, on November 8, 1973. Together, they welcomed their firstborn, James, before immigrating to Canada in 1975, seeking a bright future.


Settling in Canada, David built a dedicated career at RBC Bank, and their family grew with the births of their daughters, Rita and Erica. David was defined by his incredible work ethic and resilience. He never allowed physical ailments or life's obstacles to slow him down, always prioritizing the care and provision for his family above all else. In his well-deserved retirement, David found immense joy in singing karaoke and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.


David is predeceased by his daughter, Rita, and survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Mei, and his children, James (Yang) and Erica. He lives on in the hearts of his four granddaughters—Nina, Lily-Anna, Emma, and Emily—and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
