In Memory of John (Yiannis) Teloniatis
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, John (Yiannis) Teloniatis, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on July 8, 2026, at the age of 73. Following a devastating stroke on May 23, 2026, John was surrounded by the unwavering love, comfort, and support of his family and friends until his final moments.
John was born on November 7, 1952, in Athens, Greece, where he grew up with his loving parents, Aglaia and Panayiotis, and his older brother, Ignatios. In 1967, at the age of 14, his family immigrated to Canada, crossing the Atlantic Ocean by ship in search of new life.
Known for his extraordinary compassion, gentle spirit, calm demeanour, humility, and genuine respect for everyone he met, John left a lasting impression on all whose lives he touched. He possessed a quiet strength and unwavering integrity. Even during his journey with Alzheimer's disease, John faced each day with remarkable optimism, resilience, and determination to remain in his home.
Above all else, John was a devoted father and grandfather. His quiet strength, generosity, humility, and unconditional love for his family defined the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.
John leaves behind his loving children, Peter (Krystyna) and Alyssa (Ryan); his cherished grandchildren, John, Chloe, Evangeline, Ava, and Leonidas; his beloved brother, Ignatios Teloniatis; his lifelong best friend, Theodoras Toublaris, and countless family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues, and members of the East York and Greek communities whose lives were enriched by his kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love and gratitude.
In honour of John's memory, and in support of the ongoing search for a cure, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society in lieu of flowers. https://alzheimersocietyinmemoriam.crowdchange.ca/page/yiannisteloniatis
May his memory be eternal.
