John Spanos passed away on October 2, 2026, in Whitby, Ontario, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Shiela for 58 years, and the proud father of Jason (Elaine) and Jennifer (Paul). He had four grandchildren: Isabel, Clara, Ella and Arianna.

John was born in Aetos, Greece, to Evangelos and Effie before he came to Canada. He ran his own barbershop for many years and was known for his excellent haircuts, his famous “barber poll” for predicting political races, and a good joke. Everyone felt welcome in the barbershop.

John took great pride in his home and garden. He also loved cars, going to the gym, and vacations in Florida and Cuba. He was fun to be around and will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his brothers Peter and George and his sisters Jean and Mary.
