In memory of

John McGivery

April 1, 1948 - August 20, 2026

John McGivery passed away peacefully and courageously on August 20th , surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, respect and devotion. He was a constant anchor for everyone who knew him.

John was the beloved husband and best friend to Cathy, with whom he built a life filled with deep love and unwavering partnership. He was a devoted father to Steven (Alison), Chris (Sharlene) and Mike (Heather) leading by example while teaching his sons the value of hard work, integrity, and showing up for the people you care about.
One of John’s proudest titles was Grandfather. John loved his grandchildren and leaves behind Madison, Logan, Skylar, Ty, Clark, and Harlee.

John who was a brother to Murray, Ronnie, Gloria , Lois, Trudy and Tommy was known for his love and support for his family and friends. He had a way of making people feel grounded, offering a ready smile, practical wisdom, and a generous hand to family, friends, and neighbors alike.

Though his absence leaves a profound hole in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy lives on through the family and friends he adored.

In memory of John and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.

The family will be having a private service and will be holding a celebration in honor of John at a later date.
