It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Lacey Wyatt announces his passing at the age of 92 on Saturday November 12th 2022, after a short stay in hospital.
John was born August 5, 1930 in Abingdon England and shortly after moved to Bermuda with his parents. His days were spent spearfishing, sailing and this is where he became an exceptional swimmer. It was here he joined the Volunteer Rifle Corps and excelled at target shooting. A skill that continued as a hobby after emigrating to Canada, he won numerous trophies across Ontario. His career was as a packaging design specialist, but he was a craftsman at heart. Making jewelry and a love of woodworking that lasted his whole life, he leaves his family the treasure of the many fine pieces he made.
For 30 years, John was a volunteer for community baseball. He started as a scorekeeper and coach and later became the President for Bloor Baseball and the Mississauga Baseball Assn. Being an umpire was his favorite thing. On the diamond, behind the plate, calling the strike zone just a little too low is where he was happiest. As a grampa, he discovered the pleasure of tinkering in the garage and letting his grandsons play and showing them how to use his tools.
John is survived by his wife Norma of 61 years, his loving son David (Lidia), his devoted daughter Lisa (Andrew) and his two beautiful grandsons Wyatt and Nolan. He will be missed by his nieces and nephew in New Brunswick (Linda, Mary, Sherry, Bill) and their families and also his many cousins in England. John is predeceased by his parents and his sister Margaret Anne Dunlop (Bob) and his two special nieces, Catherine and Susan. We are really going to miss you Dad. We love you very much. Rest in peace.
Donations can be made in John’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
