It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of John McKay on June 10, 2025. Respected, funny and a little bit stubborn, he was true to himself to his last day.

Survived by devoted wife Martha.

Loving father to Isla, proud Papa to David and Laura (Greg) and even prouder GP (Great-Papa) to Philip and Henry.

Uncle to the McKirdy family in Scotland and the extended Welsh families here in Canada.

John is also survived by youngest sister Rita in Scotland and nieces and nephews in Calgary, Scotland and England.

Preceded in death by first wife Elizabeth, son-in-law Philip, older brother Archie and younger sister Mina.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, ON. If planning to attend, please wear something blue, his favourite colour, in any shade, pattern or plaid.

With heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Seven Oaks Long Term Care 1st Floor Unit for their kindness and caring, not only during John’s last few days, but for his care and wellbeing over the past two years.
