In memory of

Hon Ming Ted Chin

April 15, 1927 - November 26, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Ted Hon Ming Chin announced his passing on November 26, 2025 at the Veteran Centre of Sunnybrook Health Services of Toronto with his family at his side. Ted was 98 years old.
Ted was predeceased by his loving wife, Pat. He was predeceased by parents, his sisters Lillian and Jenny, his brothers Dave, Jack, and Dickie, and his brothers-in-law Henry, Jeffrey, Jackie and Joseph.

Ted is survived by his loving daughters Nancy (Jim), Kathy (Ron), and Marianne (Peter), his beautiful grandchildren Elizabeth, Andrew (April), Aaron, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Kurtis, and his loving great grandson Liam. He is also survived by his close and caring sister Mae and his loving sister-in-law Grace and his dedicated and helpful nephews David (Joy) and Stephen (Chris) and grandnephews Kevin and Luke and grandniece Lauren. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces on both coasts of Canada.

Ted was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He was the beloved favorite son of his mother and favorite baby brother of his siblings. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at age 17. He was discharged after the WWII. After the war he attended the college known as Ryerson Institute of Technology for one year.

Pat and Ted found love and got married in Hong Kong. They settled and began a new life in Toronto. He worked more than one job and Pat sold home-made dim-sum when their family was growing. Both Ted and Pat were dedicated full-time employees of Canada Post. They worked hard to raise their own loving and successful family. They were also kind enough to extend their helping hands to their brothers’ and sisters’ families. Ted was a quiet and a gentle man who never showed any anger towards anyone. He protected his loving wife and three daughters with tender loving care. He enjoyed watching TV and listening to the big band music. With his love for driving, the family had made multiple trips to Florida and fishing trips. He enjoyed ocean cruises in his retirement years. Unfortunately, he had Alzheimer disease in 2011. He was admitted to Sunnybrook Veteran Centre in 2018 and had received excellent care. Pat and Ted had made multiple friends during his stay at the Veteran centre.

Ted was a devoted Christian and enjoyed his walk with God through his life and his final days. We are assured that he will be at the best place with God.

As an expression of sympathy you may make a donation to The Veteran Centre of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

The family of Ted wishes to thank Pastor Wes, the doctors, nurses and staff of the Sunnybrook Veteran Centre who provided excellent care and comfort to Ted.
