Helen Delaney (nee Strongman) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Born on March 1, 1931, in Prince Edward Island, Helen lived a life defined by devotion to family, kindness, and a spirit that never allowed hardship to diminish her warmth or love of life.
Predeceased by her beloved son Michael, husband Beverley, sister June, and brother Earl. Helen leaves behind her devoted son Jeffery (Geraldeen) and her cherished grandchildren Brandon, Matthew, and Jackie, fur grandchild Marley and brother Ira, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Helen was a remarkable woman whose strength quietly carried her through life’s many challenges. As a wife and mother, she worked tirelessly for decades in modest jobs, always placing her family’s needs ahead of her own. Though life was not always easy, Helen refused to let difficult circumstances define her. Instead, she met adversity with determination, grace, humour, and an open heart.
Along the way, she formed deep and lasting friendships through her work and community — friendships that endured throughout her lifetime and became an important part of the rich tapestry of her life. Helen had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and understood, and her loyal friends remained a source of joy and companionship to her over many years.
Music was one of Helen’s greatest passions. As a young left-handed girl, she taught herself to play a right-handed guitar, beginning a lifelong love affair with music that never faded. She found happiness in song, laughter, and gathering with others to play and listen. Well into her nineties, Helen could still be found enjoying weekly jam sessions at local pubs, sharing her love of music and friendship with those around her.
Above all else, Helen’s greatest joy was her family. Her love for her sons and grandchildren was unwavering. She shared an especially profound and beautiful bond with her grandson Brandon. As his constant companion, confidante, and greatest supporter throughout his life, Helen became not only his grandmother, but also his closest friend and source of endless laughter. In her final years, Brandon, in turn, brought her immense joy, comfort and companionship. Helen will be remembered for her quiet courage, her enduring kindness, her love of music, and the deep devotion she showed to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched over her 95 years.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
A private family gathering and burial will be held in remembrance of a life well lived.
