Gord passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, in the presence of his loving family – wife Andrea (nee Bezjak), daughter Allana, and son Colin. He also leaves behind his sister Christine Barnes and her family, as well as many friends and colleagues.
Gord was above all a dedicated family man – a devoted partner to Andrea for 33 years, building a happy home in Toronto and on Georgian Bay, balancing a professional career with enjoyment of family life. He was proud of all his accomplishments, most of all his two children with whom he enjoyed a continued close relationship at every stage of life.
He had a successful business career, with a rapid rise through the ranks as an HR executive at Loblaws, BMO Nesbitt Burns, and Rockwater Capital. He enjoyed a fulfilling last chapter of his career, building deep relationships with many clients at Feldman Daxon Partners.
He loved classic rock, sailing, boating, sitting out on the deck and on the dock, enjoying his beloved cottage home at Thunder Beach. In recent years, he spent as much time as possible up north, where he could enjoy the views and tranquility in the company of his four-legged companion Nash and his loving family.
We are grateful to Dr. Balmain and the staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre ICU for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Georgian Bay General Hospital would be appreciated.
Visitation will take place at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on Saturday, January 31 from 2 to 4pm.
Gone much too soon, but will always be in our hearts.
We invite you to sign the guestbook to share memories and wishes with the family.
