Golrokh Hodaie, devoted Bahá’í, beloved mother, grandmother, and a friend to so many, passed away on July 1, 2026.

Born in Eshghabad, she was lovingly raised in Mashhad, Iran, from the age of one. Later, in Abadan, Iran, she met her lifelong companion, Zia Hodaie. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, service, resilience, and unconditional love for whoever crossed their path.

When the 1979 Islamic Revolution began in Iran, Golrokh and Zia left their homeland with their three children, beginning a journey that took them first to Dublin and then to Luxembourg before immigrating to Canada. In 1982, they moved to Paris, Ontario, where they served as Bahá’í pioneers for two decades before moving to Mississauga and Toronto for their remaining years.

Service was always first and foremost in Golrokh’s mind and manifested this deep commitment by creating the means for others to serve the Faith and the broader community. Through her quiet strength, generosity, steadfast support, and great sense of humor, she nurtured environments where devotion, unity, and service could flourish.

Above all, Golrokh’s greatest joy was her family. The happiness and progress of her grandchildren Sara, Maryam and Anis were the center of everything she did and a constant source of joy in her life.

Golrokh is survived by her sister, Mahrokh; her children, Omid, Payman, and Negin; and her daughter-in-law, Mojgan.
