It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Georgios Grammenopoulos, who passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on July 28, 1938, in Sklithro, Florina, Greece, to Panagiotis and Aspasia, Georgios immigrated to Canada in 1966, where he built a life defined by dedication, perseverance, and a deep commitment to family and friends.
He was the devoted husband of Theofano, his partner in life for 63 years. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, resilience, and enduring memories that will be cherished for generations.
He is survived by his sons, Danny (Kathy) and Peter (Tsahai), and was a loving and proud grandfather to “Pappou’s Numbers 1 through 5” for the order of their birth: Stephanie (Matt), George (Julia), Marilyn (Jared), Magdalena and Alexandra . He was also a beloved Pappou Number 2 to his six great-grandsons: Brayden, Leander, Noah, Samuel, Eli and Liam.
Georgios was predeceased by his beloved younger sister, Anneta Savvidis but will be remembered by his brother-in-law John, his sister Ioanna (late Eleftherios) Frengopoulos, as well as by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who held a special place in his heart.
Family was Georgios’s greatest joy and source of pride. He took immense happiness in watching his grandchildren grow and flourish, and he celebrated each of their milestones with quiet pride and deep love. His presence in their lives was constant, steady, and full of care.
He found satisfaction in working with his hands—tinkering, repairing, building, and maintaining his home with patience and pride. These projects reflected not only his skill, but also his devotion to creating a strong and lasting foundation for his family.
Known in his community as a kind and dependable neighbour, Georgios offered help without hesitation. His quiet generosity and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, strength, integrity, and devotion will live on through those he leaves behind.
May his memory be eternal.
