It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Gail has passed after a courageous battle with cancer. Gail was born on June 7, 1948, in Kingston, Ontario to Orville and Margaret Culley. A city girl to her core, Gail was raised in North Toronto with her older sister and best friend, Carol Richardson.
Gail was a star athlete and excellent (chatty) student, graduating nursing school at the Hospital for Sick Children at the top of her class.
But what defines Gail’s life is the extraordinary way that she connected with and loved people – as a nurse, a friend, a wife, a mom, and a nana. Gail’s warmth, her wit, her charm, her sage advice, her laugh, and her legendary hugs will always be remembered by all of us who were lucky enough to be loved by her.
Gail was loved beyond measure by her husband and rock of over 55 years, Ron and her kids Shane (Sue), Jo (Matt), and Chris (Jackie). She was adored by her eight grandchildren - Kyle, Russell, Abby, Tyler, Brooke, Lucas, Ben, and Izzy. You were her greatest joy, and she loved you all MORE! Gail will also be deeply missed by her wide circle of beautiful friends from her West Hill neighbourhood, Kahshe Lake, the ’69 nurses from the HSC, her beauties in Washago, Unionville and St. Clements as well as her weiner women and a special few she considered family.
We will have a celebration of Gail’s life on Saturday, June 7th at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre from 2 pm to 4 pm. If you would like to make a donation in Gail’s name, please consider the Hospital for Sick Children, a special place that Gail held close to her heart. You can donate online at www.sickkidsfoundation.com or at 416-813-6166.
Safe home to the centre of our world.
