It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frederiki (Freda) Caragiannis on June 10, 2026, at Michael Garron Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Freda is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, George, whom she cherished throughout her life. Together once again, they remain forever in our hearts. She is also reunited with her mother, father, and many departed loved ones.
She leaves behind three doting daughters, Christina (Neil), Sophia (Kevin), and Dimitra (Dan), and her two beloved grandsons, Evan and Christopher.
At the young age of 17, Freda left her family behind in Argos Orestikon, Kastoria, Greece, to embark on a brave new journey to Canada to marry George. This leap of faith spoke volumes about her lifelong courage, tenacity, and bravery. Together, they built a life of opportunity, and Freda worked incredibly hard to provide a better future for her children and grandchildren.
An original "OG" of Bingham Avenue, Freda was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, neighbor, and friend. She took immense pride in her home, her garden, and her cooking—if she was feeding you, she was happy. Her unwavering faith in God guided her through life's hardships, which she overcame with an incredible, seemingly effortless strength and resilience.
Freda possessed an undeniable zest for life and greeted everyone with a warm smile and a friendly hello; to Freda, a stranger was just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Everyone who knew her loved her, and many considered her their best friend. She found true joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was keeping a spotless home, making her daily trips to Loblaws, or shopping for her favorite things (rugs, pillows, and tea towels—oh my!).
Freda always made sure her family was taken care of and wanted nothing more than for those around her to be happy, joyful, and full of love. She touched so many lives, and we are all incredibly blessed and honored to have known her.
We will continue to celebrate her life to the fullest every single day in her honor. May God bless her and keep her in eternal peace. Until we meet again.
