It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fanny Mitchell, a strong, fierce, and truly incredible woman. She passed on June 7, 2025 at the age of 76. She left this world surrounded by the love of her family, and will be deeply missed by her daughter Robyn as well as Roger, her loving husband of 52 years. She will be forever cherished by her two grandchildren Madison and Mitchell as well as her brother Elmer, close cousin Inga and many others who’s hearts she touched.
Fanny was born on January 3, 1949 in Sweden to parents Marie and Izu Rosenberg. When she was two, Fanny’s family immigrated to Canada and settled in Timmins, Ontario. The family created many fond memories picking blueberries and taking trips to Toronto.
To her family, Fanny was the foundation—fiercely protective, endlessly loving, and always there. A devoted mother and grandmother, she gave all of herself to the people she loved. Fanny did everything with honesty and integrity. She had very strong values and always made time to help others.
Fanny loved to talk to her grandchildren, always taking an interest in their wild stories. Fanny liked playing bridge but most of all, enjoyed long conversations with her closest family members. Fanny’s greatest joy was spending time with her daughter Robyn.
Fanny leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unshakable love. A celebration of her life will be held at the end of August, location and time to be announced soon. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of your choice.
