It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Kuhatlic, who died peacefully at her home in Toronto, Canada, on July 31, 2026, at the age of 94.
Originally from Novi Sad, Eva spent her childhood and early adult years there before settling in Canada, where she became an active and respected member of the Hungarian community.
A deeply spiritual woman, gifted writer, and lifelong learner, Eva served for many years as the leader of the Hungarian Writers' Group. She was also an active member of the Bácska–Bánát Association and a dedicated volunteer in the Long-Term Care Program at Baycrest Hospital.
Music brought Eva great joy. She loved to sing, whether with family and friends or by spontaneously breaking into song whenever the moment inspired her.
Although Eva had no children of her own, she devoted herself to her family. She sponsored many siblings, nieces, and nephews to immigrate to Canada, helping them build new lives and opportunities.
Eva is survived by her sister, Viktoria, her brother, Joe, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will cherish her memory.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Milan, Eva hoped they would one day be reunited, and we take comfort in that hope.
She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, faith, creativity, and the many lives she touched.
