We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Elinor (Eli) peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Beloved wife of William Adair (Bill) for over 60 years. Devoted mother to Jillian (Rich) and Maggie (Marc). Loving grandma to Cameron, Emma, Ben, Alex and Kaitlyn. Adored daughter of the late Captain Jack and Violet Lidstone. Sister of the late retired Deputy Commissioner J.W. (Bill) Lidstone (Anne) and sister-in-law to the late Margaret Ann (Marg) Raymond (Matt). She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, family and close friends.
As a retired primary teacher, Elinor loved children and was able to instill her appreciation of literature in her many students. She enjoyed the numerous friendships she made throughout her life and continued to be active with outings, book and bridge clubs when she retired. She also was a proficient pianist and could play by ear and sing until shortly before her passing.
Elinor loved to play sports and was an excellent swimmer and former lifeguard. Her summers were spent at the cottage where she hosted many guests and loved late night boat cruises and watching the sunset. She will be remembered for positivity, her warm and caring smile, infectious laugh, kindness, ability to listen, sense of style and graciousness.
Thank you to all her caregivers, PSWs, nurses and doctors from the Key, Parkland, Credit Valley and Milton District hospitals and the Village of Erin Meadows.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Osteoporosis Canada or a charity of your choice.
