It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Elbert Chuang, who passed away at the age of 26.
Elbert lived with an adventurous spirit and had a natural ability to connect with those around him. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful person who cared deeply about the people in his life. A talented athlete, he was a competitive swimmer and continued to pursue his passion for fitness throughout his life. He loved working out at the gym and spending time with his friends, many of whom became like family to him. Elbert’s warmth, intelligence, and genuine spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In our heartbreak, we want to reach out to those who knew him. We are holding an informal visitation to provide a space for you to say your final goodbyes, and support one another as you begin to heal.
A Message of Safety
As you remember Elbert, we ask one thing of you: please prioritize your safety and look out for one another. Elbert’s life was precious, and so is yours. We share this reminder in the hope that no other family has to endure this pain. Please stay safe, stay vigilant, and cherish the time you have with the people you love.
Our family does not expect or request donations. Your support and kind thoughts during this difficult time mean the most to us.
For those who feel strongly about contributing, a donation can be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation in appreciation of the exceptional care and compassion shown by the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff who did everything they could for Elbert. Location: Elgin Mills Funeral Centre (1591 Elgin Mills Rd. East, Richmond Hill)
Date: Sunday, March 15, 2026
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Note: This is an open visitation for friends and peers to pay their respects. There will be no formal ceremony. Elbert’s parents, Eugene and Maxine, will be grieving privately and will not be in attendance. We thank you for your love and for honoring Elbert’s memory.
