It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eduarda Domingos, who returned to the arms of her Creator on February 10, 2026 A devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, she leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hard work, and deep-rooted tradition.
Born on November 27, 1944, in Água de Pau, São Miguel, Eduarda was the youngest of four daughters born to Maria and Antonio Damasio. At the age of 20, she married Evaristo Pacheco, and shortly after the birth of their first son, Carlos, the young family embarked on a life-changing journey to Canada.
Arriving in 1968 with only two suitcases and a toddler, and expecting their second child, Lucia, Eduarda and Evaristo leaned on the support of family to build their version of the Canadian Dream. Through tireless work, they provided a world of opportunity for their children while ensuring the Portuguese culture and beliefs they held dear remained the heartbeat of their home.
In 1977, the family was completed with the birth of their daughter, Cristina. They eventually settled in Brampton, where they remained until Evaristo’s passing in 1994. Finding herself a widow at just 50 years old, Eduarda was blessed to find love and companionship again with Carlos Domingos. Married for 25 years until his passing in 2023, Eduarda and Carlos spent their years traveling, enjoying their adult children, and finding peace at her cottage on Saugeen Beach.
Eduarda was a woman of remarkable talent and tenacity. A naturally gifted seamstress, she possessed the rare ability to recreate almost any garment simply from a photograph. She balanced numerous commissions alongside her full-time work and the demands of raising a family, always driven by a deep sense of purpose. She was a dedicated caregiver to her own parents for many years and worked selflessly in various roles to ensure her children wanted for nothing.
Her weekends were often spent surrounded by family and friends lounging at Terra Cotta Conservation Area, laughing with the many dear friends who went before her. Above all, Eduarda was a pillar of the Catholic Church. In her youth, she volunteered countless hours to the Portuguese festivals in Georgetown and Brampton, ensuring her children and the wider community understood their roots. In her later years, she found her greatest comfort in prayer and the daily worship of Christ.
Though a tragic stroke in 2010 limited her physical mobility, her spirit remained. She was cared for with steadfast devotion by Carlos until his passing. Eduarda is survived by her loving children: Carlos (Maryann) Pacheco, Lucie Pimentel, and Christine (Andy) Linardatos. She was the "Avó" to her pride and joy: grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Matthew, Zoey, and Stella. She also remains in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
While we mourn her loss, we find solace in the knowledge that she has found peace in the presence of God, reunited with those she loved who have gone before her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Eduarda’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
