It is with heavy hearts that the family of Po-Kuen Eddy Chung announces his peaceful passing on May 23, 2026, at the age of 82.
Eddy was born on September 8th, 1943, in Qi'aocun, Guangdong Province, China and later immigrated to Canada in 1967, the same year that the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup, which he vividly remembered.
Shortly thereafter in 1972, he became a restauranteur and owner of House of Chung in Bolton, Ontario for nearly 30 years and became a business partner of a successful nursery in Markham, Kim’s Nature.
An avid lover of birds, Gongfu Cha (The Art of Tea), bonsai, traveling, music and food.
You always knew when he was in the room and you could feel his embrace, welcoming everyone with open arms, proving that family is not defined merely by blood, but by love.
He had the unique ability to bring people to together and will be remembered for his exuberance, witty sense of humour, generosity and his profound gratitude towards everyone
His life was well-lived and a masterpiece of love, sharing joy and laughter; he will be deeply missed but remembered fondly.
Eddy was the beloved husband of Kam Yee Yick. He is survived by his children; Keon (Lesley) Chung, Clark (Rose) Chung, Wahly (Naomi) Chung, Wing Hong Tse, and Jessica (Harrison) Chung, Grandchildren; Jagur Chung, Jaydlyn Chung, Rachel Richmond, Ella Chung and Ivy Chung, Siblings; Roland (Melina) Chung, Martina (Chi) Ma, Ada (Rex) Chan, Paul (Susan) Chung, and many nieces and nephews.
