On March 25, 2026, Dan Kocot of Oshawa passed away at the age of 66 years.
Dan was born in Scarborough and spent almost 20 years working as a parts technician at Shanahan Ford in Newmarket. Dan was a fighter, surviving diabetes, a stroke, and the loss of both his vision and a foot while never losing his characteristic sense of humour.
Dan will be lovingly remembered by his sister Janice and his brothers Edward (Roslyn), Robert (Sherry), and Blaine (Cynthia); his nieces Krista, Alicia (Chris) King, Hailey, and Wilhelmena (Jake) Burrows, and nephews Jeffery, Jake, and Alexander (Quinn); and close friend Chris Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Doris.
A private service will be held at the family’s request.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Lakeridge Health Oshawa for all of the care and support provided for Dan throughout his life.
