It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Anthony Clancy, aged 65, who passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family Deborah, Taylor, and Kaitlyn.
Clancy was born on September 23, 1960, in Galt, Ontario, to Frank Clancy and Ruth Hickey. He grew up alongside his four siblings Bill, Stephen, Maureen, and Janet all close in age, sharing countless adventures and laughter. His family was at the heart of everything he did, he cherished the one he was born into and the one he later built with love. Clancy is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Deborah Truffer; his daughters, Taylor and Kaitlyn Clancy; and his siblings, Stephen and Janet Clancy. He was predeceased by his brother, Bill Clancy, and his sister, Maureen Matheson.
To know Clancy was to love him. He was the truest example of a loving husband, a proud father, and a cherished friend. He was the heart of every gathering and the soul of his family. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. He had a gentle patience and quiet strength that made life around him calmer, steadier, and always full of love. His courage shone most clearly in his battle with Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosed in 2012. He also dedicated many years as an active board member of the Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation of Canada (WMFC), offering his time, insight, and compassion to support others facing the same journey.
A man of many talents, Clancy loved cycling, swimming, art, and had a remarkable ability to find solutions for almost anything he set his mind to. He held multiple careers throughout his lifetime, ranging from corporate sales in sportswear, to various positions in the telecom industry, and finally as a designer for custom millwork. With an incredible eye for design and detail, his work reflected his care, creativity, and perfectionism.
Clancy had a deep appreciation for both the simple and finer joys of life: good company, lively conversation, memorable vacations, and something sweet to end the day. His warmth and bright, welcoming energy drew people in wherever he went. Always curious and engaged, he listened to others with genuine interest, building bonds that would make even strangers feel like lifelong friends.
Clancy’s kindness, positivity, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He was truly one of a kind, a beautiful soul who made the world brighter just by being in it.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations in his memory may be made to the Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation of Canada (WMFC) at wmfc.ca
