It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cidalia Rosa, who left us peacefully at the age of 89. Born in Portugal on July 9, 1936, Cidalia lived a life guided by determination, independence, and care for those she held dear.
She was married to Francisco Rosa, with whom she shared many years of companionship and hard work. Cidalia was known for her strong will and quiet resolve. She was the first woman in São Cristóvão to wear pants, a small but meaningful reflection of her practical nature and confidence in her choices.
Cidalia, nicknamed “Sha” by her grandson, loved flowers and birds and took great pride in her gardens, whether at her home, her condo, or the plants she nurtured indoors. Her gardens were a source of joy and beauty, reflecting her patience and devotion.
Cidalia was predeceased by her husband Francisco and her daughter Joanna, and now joins them in eternal rest. She leaves behind her sister Idilia (predeceased by her husband John), her grandson Matthew and his wife Deirdre, her niece Gigi, her great-grandchildren Lilliana and Bennett, the Reis and Tudela families, and all of her family and friends in Toronto and back home in Portugal.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Pine Hills Funeral Home. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home in her memory.
