On Saturday, May 3, 2025, in his 98th year, Dr. Yong passed away peacefully in his sleep at Mackenzie Health Hospital surrounded by family.

Dr. Yong was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A man of quiet strength, wisdom, and compassion. He leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and deep familial love. Dr. Yong was predeceased by his beloved wife, Felicia. He is survived by his daughters, Celia (Daniel) Chu and Felicia Jr.; his grandchildren, Melissa Chu-Avery (Steve Avery) and Ryan (Tanya) Chu; and his great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Avery, Brayden Avery, Gabriel Chu, Tyler Avery, and Tristan Chu. Each of them carries forward his values of determination, kindness, and resilience.

Dr. Yong dedicated his life to the healing profession. As a respected doctor, he touched countless lives with his commitment to helping others with a steady and humble demeanor. Those who knew him best remember him as a strong, intelligent, and quiet man whose actions spoke louder than words.

Among his proudest achievements was bringing his family to Canada — a courageous move that laid the foundation for new opportunities and a brighter future. His life was defined by sacrifice, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Outside of his profession, Dr. Yong enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, tai-chi, and gathering with family for weekly dim sum. He approached life with grace and found joy in its simple pleasures. He was deeply loved, and he will be forever missed. But the values he lived by — kindness, humility, strength, and quiet determination — live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
