In memory of

Christopher Armstrong Archer

April 9, 1965 - June 24, 2026

Christopher Armstrong Archer April 9, 1965 - June 24, 2026

After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Chris passed away peacefully at Weston Terrace Community.

Chris was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Ted Archer, and his sister, Stevie Doody (Mike). He is survived by his loving sisters, Connie Thomson and Sue Mitchell; his brothers-in-law, Andy and Brett; his beloved nieces and nephews, David, Mary, Jessica, Sarah (Ryan), Jamie, Mandy (Justin); his cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, Alexandra (Jeremy), Matthew, Vlad, Allison, Courtney, Connor, and Garrison; and his treasured great-great-niece, Mackenzie.
Known for his kindness, independence, wonderful sense of humour, and legendary dance moves, Chris had a smile that could light up any room. He had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. Simply being around Chris brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him.

Nothing meant more to Chris than the people in his life. He adored his family and treasured his friendships.

Born with Down syndrome, Chris faced life’s challenges with optimism, determination, and a fierce sense of independence, always taking pride in a job well done.

With over 30 years of independent living supports provided by Karis Disability Services (formerly Christian Horizons) Chris thrived in his community.
He worked for Welcome Wagon for 25 years and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, local pet shelters, and the WAES Food Bank.

Chris found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved dancing, swimming, bowling, cooking, hiking, drawing, travelling, spending time at the cottage, and being around animals. Whether it was a lottery ticket or a game of Yahtzee, Chris loved the thrill of playing—and he loved winning even more.

Chris loved with his whole heart. He reminded those around him to slow down, laugh often, and appreciate life’s little joys. That is the gift he leaves with all of us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honour Chris’s life—and, just as he would have wanted, do a “happy dance” together. Date and details will be posted here once available.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’s memory may be made to Karis Disability Services, the WAES Food Bank, or the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.
