It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Mommy and Lola, Christina Garcia Martinez. She passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, with her family by her bed side. She was less than 2 months shy of her 101st birthday.
Christina was born on December 15, 1924 to Alejandro and Dolores Garcia in a military base (Fort Stotsenburg, now known as Clark Air Base), in Pampanga, Philippines. She lived in Quezon City until she immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1972. She is survived by her sisters Milagros Lopez and Theresa Ramos. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hector Martinez Sr, and her brother Alejandro Garcia Jr.
She is also survived by her 5 children, Maria Elena “Len” De Las Alas (Jaime), Hector “Boy” Martinez Jr. (Irene), Maria “Chi-Chi” Cristina Ng (Yook), Stella Cruz (Midel), and Dolores “Loree” Wong (Robert), her 14 grand children, 17 great-grand children and 1 great-great-grand child.
For the past 11 years, she lived at Union Villa Long Term Care in Markham. We wanted to especially give a huge thank you to all the charge nurses and all her caregivers who tirelessly gave Christina so much of their tender loving care and comfort over the years. We also want to thank the pastoral and recreation teams who cared for her with their constant and unwavering compassion and love. They all made her feel loved, cherished and special, and the family will be forever grateful to our Union Villa family.
