Chizu Hashizume passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital on July 17, 2026 at the age of 90.

Born on January 12, 1936 in Japan. Predeceased by her husband William (Tasaboro). Survived by sons Ken and Ray, grandson Noah, and many nieces and nephews.

Chizu first arrived in Canada in 1968. She dabbled in water colour painting after a long nursing career.

Ken says his mom has brought a smile to everyone she met.

Visitation and celebration of life will take place at Pine Hills Cemetery at 625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, Ont. starting at 1 PM. Private burial will take place immediately following the service.

Donations may be made in memory of Chizu Hashizume to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.
