Catherine “Cathy” Shiers

September 21, 1943 – June 5, 2025


Catherine passed away quietly at home after a short illness in her 81st year.

Known as Cathy, she was a beloved mother to Melinda, Jennifer (Wade), and Christopher; a loving grandmother to Arturo; and sister to Alexander “Sandy” Hamilton (Roisin).

Predeceased by her parents, Benjamin Ralph and Kathryn Hamilton, and husband, Gary. Survived by her children, grandson, and brother. She leaves behind many friends who will miss her deeply.

Cathy spent many years with the Jaycettes organization, rising to become National President and receiving their highest honour of Maple Leaf. She loved to travel and her last trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. with her son, Christopher, holds many good memories.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Winchester Glen Retirement Community in Oshawa. Cathy lived there for the last three years and was quite the social butterfly. She made many friends and really enjoyed those Happy Hour Fridays!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Centre, 1200 Thornton Road N, Oshawa, ON. Visitation begins at 11:00 am, service at 12:00 pm, reception to follow. Burial will take place on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery, 1 Chipman Ave, Bridgetown, NS at 2:00 pm.
