On June 10, 2026, we lost Caroline Ann Davidson (née Avery), aged 79, after a three-year battle with various medical issues. Caroline was married to her high-school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Davidson, until his untimely death in 1990. Caroline is survived by their son, Terry (Jenny). She was the beloved daughter of Lillian and Robert Avery and sister to Bobby Avery, Marilyn Wallace and Eileen Jones — all of whom had previously passed. She was also daughter-in-law to the late Jack and Edna Davidson and a valued member of the Davidson family.
Caroline, born September 12, 1946, in Toronto, attended Kimberley Public School and Danforth Collegiate. It was during high school she met the love of her life, Bob. After finishing school, Caroline and Bob entered the work world and married a short time later. Five years on, they welcomed Terry. Both hard workers, Caroline and Bob built a loving home on Scotia Ave. for their new family.
Caroline was the consummate working mom. She started her working life as a switchboard operator for a downtown insurance company and went on to hold bookkeeping and clerical positions with various employers, including the legendary Becker Milk Company. At the same time, Caroline was a family woman: She was a devoted spouse — supportive, and forever attentive to Bob’s dietary needs due to his diabetes. She was also a dedicated mother to Terry, instilling in her young son a love of reading through regular bedtime stories — a nightly ritual taking place before Terry had even entered kindergarten. As was Bob, Caroline was a tireless supporter of her son’s interests, whether it be music, writing, art or sports.
After losing Bob to a stroke in 1990, a grieving Caroline continued to work until taking early retirement to spend time gardening, reading, cooking, travelling with family and friends, watching The Young and the Restless and Coronation Street and doting on her beloved cat, Bella.
Caroline will be missed.
The family would like to thank all the staff at The Wexford Residence for always treating Caroline with dignity, respect and, above all, kindness. The family also thanks Dr. Sandra Marcus, a caring and patient physician who went above and beyond in taking time to answer questions and soothe frayed nerves. Thanks also to the various other doctors, nurses and personal support workers who cared for Caroline over the last few years.
Donations can be made in Caroline’s memory to The Wexford, Diabetes Canada, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or an animal shelter of your choice. As per her wishes, a graveside service will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery Monday, June 22, 2026, at 1 p.m.
