Dr. Ataollah Nadimi, aged 97, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, in Toronto, Canada after a brief period of illness. He was born in Shiraz, Iran, one of eight children. After medical training in Shiraz and England, he worked as an ophthalmologist for almost thirty years. Throughout his life, he served his family and his patients with great self-sacrifice, deep integrity and incredible dedication. He left Iran in 1996 to settle in his adopted country of Canada, where he continued to serve the local Baha’i and Persian communities through his translation, mentoring and tutoring. He was the author of several medical, public health and Baha’i books. He loved poetry and reading and had beautiful penmanship. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were his greatest source of happiness and pride. Ataollah is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mahvash Sabet, and by his children, Payman (Tracy) and Suzan (Michael), as well as his grandchildren Varqa (Sara), Na’im (Maya) and Nabil (Carrie). He was preceded in death by his beloved eldest son Payam and by three brothers and one sister. A Bahá’í funeral service to honor his passing and celebrate his life will be held on Sunday October 18th at 10 am at Elgin Mills Funeral Center, Richmond Hill.
